Kathy Boos - Publisher
As publisher, Kathy manages distribution, circulation, sales and editorial for 435 South. Her emphasis and background are in new business development. Kathy is particularly good at assisting advertisers develop strong marketing campaigns, which maximize budgets. Through 14 years in the magazine publishing industry, she has found her passion is finding a story that is engaging, interesting and inspiring.
Steven Barbeau - Art Director
With a degree in graphic design from Western Illinois University, Steven oversees all visual aspects of the magazine. As art director, he assigns photography, directs photo shoots and lays out every page of 435 South. Contact Steven for photography, art inquiries and article PDFs.
Erin Shoemake - Advertising Design and Coordination
As ad designer and production coordinator, Erin puts her KU design degree to good use by helping clients create the perfect ad. From a couple of word changes to full ad development, Erin makes minor and significant design changes, working closely with clients. Erin also manages ad deadlines, making sure all ad materials are in on time. She takes photos, handles distribution issues and does occasional page layouts. Allyson Ellis - Director of Advertising
Allyson has more than 20 years experience in advertising sales and marketing. Her expertise is in developing and implementing all aspects of advertising programs tailored to the marketing needs of her client. She also has an extensive background in sales promotions and event marketing. Allyson is always willing to go the extra mile for her clients, keeping their needs top of mind. In 2008, she was awarded the Print Sales Account Executive of the Year by Kansas City Media Mix.
Laurie Morrissey - Director of Sales and Marketing
Laurie has more than 15 years experience in advertising sales, marketing, event promotion, and public relations, having spent more than a decade working in the radio and broadcasting industry. She thrives on adding value for her clients by conceiving and coordinating promotional opportunities for their further exposure, winning her much respect and client loyalty. Laurie’s ability to design marketing strategies with client goals at the core makes her an invaluable asset to her client’s team.
Hannah Pederson -
Hannah, a Strategic Communications major at the University of Kansas School of Journalism, has joined the 435 South family for the summer. As a 435 South intern Hannah helps with social media, event planning, and digital communications. Her main focus this summer is creating 435 South Magazines 2011 video media kit. Hannah is also working closely with the Blue Valley School districts CAPS iMedia program; she has produced videos such as “Tasty Tuesday” and hosted “Compliments to the Chef.” Hannah helped create “435 South Photo Contest,” and is continuing to promote 435 South social media. Hannah is a Blue Valley West Alum and enjoying being back in the South Johnson County for the summer.
